Feeling Discouraged! [unpaid medical bills] [orchard bank]

Welcome!

I have been working on my credit for about a year now. Just recently I had 5 baddies removed and my scores did not change. I also opened and auto loan, Orchard Bank (secured), Macy's and Express. NY & CO gave me the 7-10 days and I called today and they said denied.
I'm just feeling real discouraged! I'm tired of being rejected. In 2002 I had a CO with Crap One and I settled it. It still shows settled CO and that looks just as bad. I also have two unpaid medical bills. One for $600.00 (2002) and another for 1,053.00 (2004/2005). Another medical showing up as paid.
I just can't seem to get in a good position. I'm still trying to make up for the mistakes I made in high school/college with my credit. Now that I'm a professional it's so embarrassing for me to be rejected for apartments and department store cards. I'm feeling so discouraged. I feel like I made the right decision by NOT hiring a credit repair company and taking charge of my own situation.
My FAKOS are EQ: 620, EX: 598, TU:580. Checked my FICO last month, EQ: 620
I just don't know what to do next. I've disputed with Crap One saying "Account was to be deleted upon payment as per an agreement" with all three bureaus. Hoping that Crap One won't verify. But I know they will. That old charge-off and med bill for $1053.00 is killing my credit.
Should I call Crap One (if they verify) and beg and plead to see if they would reinstate that old account from 2002? I was in high school then. Now I have completed grad school and I am far more responsible.
Any advice for a young professional desperately trying to repair her credit. It seems like the more i dispute, the worse my scores get.
Thanxs

you completed grad school that quickly? 2002 you were in high school now you're done with grad school? Congrats on that….I couldn't do that…
Yea that is pretty amazing. It took me six years to finish undergrad and grad back-to-back. How did you manage to do both in four???? Just about impossible…
Anyway…. keep your chin up..it will get better. We've all been there to a degree or another.
No not impossible Compliments of 3 yrs of AP courses in High School, it took me 2 years to finish my undergrad program. Two full years…each semester I had 16-18 credit hours). My Master's program was two full years and I just completed it, well just finished my thesis. Will graduate in December. Next Fall I will start my PH.D program.

I filed a BBB complaint against Crap one, not only did they rectify the ugliness they put on my report, they promptly issued me an unsecured sock-drawer card (I still hate them).
I LOVE the BBB though. Worded just right, you can stomp on anyone who is jeopardizing your credit.
If you know they are in fact your medical debts, have you tried PFD with the OC's?
Tried that. The OC's told me they sold the account to the CA and told me they didn't have it anymore!

what have you done about the medical collections so far?
Thank you guy! About the medical bills…. they are actually mine but I don't think the dates are reporting correctly. However, when all my other disputes clear up, I plan to send a Pre-HIPPA letter to the CRAs. Any other advice you can give me?
Thank you

Reply:I would highly suggest a good cup of coffee/tea, chocolate or your favorite indulgence, and reading http://{$MySite}/forums/index.php?showforum=36 success stories, even with starting out at 400 level scores, you can make it to the 700 club. The credit repair/improvement is slow, but eventual (ha!) and you CAN make it, as shown over & over again in that success stories forum. One of the hardest parts is waiting for good accounts to age to offset the ones you are waiting to fall-off or go-away after the 7-year reporting period.
Remember too, that FAKOs can be +/- 100 points, so if you're REALLY that concerned about what your numbers are, order from myfico.com ~ you may be very pleasantly suprised, or at least see which one of the 3 CRAs you should concentrate your efforts on the most at this time.

Reply:Hey! Keep your head up. I know it gets frustrating when you don' t see the results as quickly as you like however you will see them. The fact that you added some positive trade-lines and are continuing to dispute things will impact your score. Just keep plugging away!
Trust me, My scores were in the 400's when I started, 3 months later they are in the mid 500's and i'm hoping to be in the 600 club by Christmas.
All I can say is DISPUTE, DISPUTE DISPUTE and if possible get things in writing from the creditors when negotiating with them. Stay off the phone! ( I learned that one here :-)
Open up a Crown Jewlers Account. They approve everyone without a credit check and give you a limit of $1500.00. All you have to do is buy a cheap pair of earrings and then pay it off and they will start reporting to all 3. When I added Crown Jewlers my score jumped 25 pts just from that trade-line.
Hang in there!

what have you done about the medical collections so far?

Reply:I know it is a LOT of work and it is a horrible feeling when you don't see progress.
But, it WILL pay off!!! Keep at it and one day soon, all of a sudden, you will see results.
There are too many threads here that show that. Just keep on it and keep the chin up!
