have $100k to invest - want conservative investment

I suggest you look at GLFOX - holds really boring utility type stocks. It's the backbone of my retirement portfolio.

I like the idea of placing the bulk of the money in CD's or Treasury Zero's with less than 2 years duration.

Once the bulk of the money is allocated; you can then drip little bits of money into risk assets over time. The amount of risk you want to take is something I cannot quantify.

I just sold some small caps, natural gas funds, and healthcare reits. I am rotating a tiny amount of risk assets into BDC companies.
